Covelong Beach sits about 40 kilometers south of Chennai, offering a quieter alternative to the city's more crowded coastlines. This fishing village turned beach destination has managed to retain much of its traditional character while developing into a hub for water sports and beach activities. The golden sand stretches for several kilometers, backed by casuarina trees and dotted with colorful fishing boats that head out each morning before dawn. What makes Covelong Beach particularly appealing is its dual personality - you can watch local fishermen mending nets in the morning, then spend the afternoon learning to surf or windsurf. The beach has gained recognition as one of India's premier surfing destinations, with consistent waves and a growing community of surf schools and enthusiasts.
